Is Titanfall 2, Worth Playing?
Titanfall 2 remains one of the greatest FPS in the genre’s history and is a testament to why a poorly chosen launch window can greatly hinder the success of a near-perfect title.

Community.

The Titanfall 2 community, regardless of platform, is very passionate about Titanfall 2 and has stuck with it through good times and bad, meaning even the worst veteran will be vastly more skilled than a player who only just began to play. This disparity in skill, however, does close in time, and even casual players will quickly become competitive with enough practice.

Unfortunately, this initial skill gap can make the community appear difficult to break into for new players; however, a constant stream of new players ensures there is still room for new players to learn, even as Titanfall 2 approaches its 7th birthday.

Like all competitive shooters, there is a toxic element to the community. Still, it is mild compared to other franchises, such as Battlefield or Call of Duty. It is mostly limited to less patient veteran players venting about “noobs” and new players falsely accusing skilled veterans of being cheaters due to their near “god-like” knowledge of each map and weapon.

9th Gen Performance.

While Titanfall 2 has not received a native client on either the Xbox Series X|S or PS5, that doesn’t mean it cannot take advantage of the additional power provided by both consoles premium consoles offering 4k/60 fps and Xbox Series X|S going a step further by allowing players to enable Fps boost, allowing console users to experience Titanfall 2 at 120 fps for the first time.

Campaign.

Despite being a multiplayer-focused title, Titanfall 2 offers players one of the most beloved campaign experiences in the first-person shooter genre, with many recommending Titanfall 2 for its single-player campaign alone.

Having played the campaign, I share this sentiment: it is one of the best the genre has ever given us. I recommend it even to those who do not intend to participate in the multiplayer offerings, especially with how readily available and affordable Titanfall 2 is in 2023.

While we do not yet know what this means for the future of Titanfall 2, even the possibility of Titanfall 2 resuming development has a lot of people excited (myself included!), and I am curious to see what happens next as we finish out 2023, and step boldly into 2024!

Final Verdict.

Titanfall 2 is the whole package; there is so little wrong with Titanfall 2 it’s hard to find any single element that could be improved: phenomenal graphics, fast-paced and, more importantly, well-balanced combat, a wide variety of modes encompassing pvp, pvpve, and pve, a decent selection of maps, each Titan is both overpowered and easily countered at the same time, the skill of the player is what determines if the walking wall of steel and death is your obituary or next triumph.

The combat is simple to pick up yet offers a very high ceiling, allowing players to become a masters of their chosen Titan and Loadout.

And the most important reason why it is so good is very simple: it’s just plain fun; who doesn’t want to ride about in a mech suit and pummel other mechs with heavy weaponry and, at times, resort to a straight-out Titan boxing match?

Each of the six Titans in Titanfall 2 plays differently, and this allows for a wide range of playstyles; from the damage-focused Ronin to the more defensive Ion, there is something for everyone, and each Titan is worth trying out; perhaps you will enjoy playing Scorch and setting players alight?

Between its core player base, the renewed interest in the Titanfall franchise due to Apex Legends Season 9, and Titanfall 2 availability on both Xbox Game Pass and EA Play, the continued viability of matchmaking is ensured for years to come.
